Gentlepups, start your engines!

We'll sit on our balcony today and listen to the cars from the track. I've already had my strut around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this month - here's me at the finish line.

Look at the difference a year makes!

Baby me:

Adult me:

Mom and Dad brought me home one year ago today. I had an upset tummy, a rat-tail, and some very hostile housemates. Now I never turn down a treat, my tail is a beautiful plume, and the cats alternate between tolerating me and liking me.

I can state for a fact that I'm the most loved dog in the entire world. Mom and Dad have left vacation early to come home and get me (their separation anxiety far exceeds mine). They sing me little ditties that they make up about me, and I have about 87 nicknames. Even when they're strict - like making me wear a lifejacket on the boat, carrying me across the street, or refusing to give me any chocolate - I know they're doing it because they love me.

To celebrate, tonight I'm going to pick out some goodies at Three Dog Bakery and then we'll go on a nice long walk.

You're taking my picture on the bed again, Mom? Yawn.

Okay, here's the obligatory Dad cuddling shot. Hurry up and get it over with already.

Crazy fur

Mom and Dad went to Chicago overnight, and when they picked me up from Camp Bow Wow I needed a bath. I took a nap while I was still damp and look what happened:

Chicken Wire on the Balcony

Dad put up some wire screen on the balcony. Now I can go out and not be on leash.
This is more like it!

Aah, the sun on my belly. What could be better?

Sunday Morning

Nothin to do on a Sunday morning but lay in the sun. Maybe if I look bored enough, Mom and Dad will take me somewhere.Success, we're at Petite Chou! One of my favorite brunch spots.
Hello there friend.
I know what I want! Their Frosty Paws ice cream is delicious. Although the last time I ate too much of it, and it made my poop really soft and bubbly. Perhaps I'll try the free range 3 egg omelette instead.

Mutt Strut 2008

Today my friends Oscar (a dachshund) and Charlie (a Chihuahua mix) went with me to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time (it was Mom's first time too). We took a lap around the track (2.5 miles!) to benefit the Indianapolis Humane Society. Dachshunds were certainly popular, as Mom has documented here!

I met this 3 year-old dachshund after we registered. She had one smooth parent and one long-haired parent. Do you think my hair will be this long when I get to be 3 years old?

O hai, you look just like me!

Maybe we're related?

This could be an ad for Puppia harnesses, no?

Enough socializing...time to pound the pavement with Oscar and Charlie. This is fun!

Keep scrolling down for more pictures!
Um.

Mom? Mommmmmmmmmm!

I had my picture taken with only about 5% of the dachshunds we saw there.

Posing with Charlie and Oscar:

The highlight of my day: the miniature horse. Note the sneakers. And the baseball cap.

Wait for meeeeee, Mr. Horse!
Hey...where are you going?

Come baaaaack!

Oscar petered out on us.

Is there room for me in there?

According to her owner, Peanut once looked just like me. Upon hearing this I made a mental note not to accept so many treats.
